| STATEMENT My photographs communicate through a language of basic earthly elements: fire, pigment, prisms, animals, crystals, stars. Though many depict demonstrable properties, they resist the cold objectivity of true science. Instead they express a particular subjectivity, one that oscillates between faux-naïve experimentation and the drama of the sublimity of the natural world. While at times playful, their lightheartedness is often undercut by a sense of encroaching harm, denial of access, or lack of comprehension. Through formal clarity and the use of natural elements, they present a model of experience that is understood intuitively—a personalized phenomenology. BIOGRAPHY |
