STATEMENT
Imitation of Life is the overarching title or theme of some recent photographic work which includes this photograph. The title comes from the 1950's Technicolor film by Douglas Sirk as well as the 1933 Fannie Hurst novel of the same name. With this collection of images, I have been putting together photographs that don't connect so obviously, letting the narrative strands relate more freely. I work with varying degrees of "straight" or "real" photography to create images that question our understanding of and relationship to the photographic image and the world at large.
